Psalm 147 Part 1 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCC DEFF GGHH CIJJ K LLMM NNLL OOPP CCQR

The Divine nature providence and graceA
-
Praise ye the Lord 'tis good to raiseB
Our hearts and voices in his praiseB
His nature and his works inviteC
To make this duty our delightC
-
The Lord builds up JerusalemD
And gathers nations to his nameE
His mercy melts the stubborn soulF
And makes the broken spirit wholeF
-
He formed the stars those heav'nly flamesG
He counts their numbers calls their namesG
His wisdom's vast and knows no boundH
A deep where all our thoughts are drownedH
-
Great is our Lord and great his mightC
And all his glories infiniteI
He crowns the meek rewards the justJ
And treads the wicked to the dustJ
-
PAUSEK
-
Sing to the Lord exalt him highL
Who spreads his clouds all round the skyL
There he prepares the fruitful rainM
Nor lets the drops descend in vainM
-
He makes the grass the hills adornN
And clothes the smiling fields with cornN
The beasts with food his hands supplyL
And the young ravens when they cryL
-
What is the creature's skill or forceO
The sprightly man the warlike horseO
The nimble wit the active limbP
All are too mean delights for himP
-
But saints are lovely in his sightC
He views his children with delightC
He sees their hope he knows their fearQ
And looks and loves his image thereR
