Mercy to sufferers or God hearing prayerC
-
Let every tongue thy goodness speakD
Thou sovereign Lord of allE
Thy strength'ning hands uphold the weakD
And raise the poor that fallE
-
When sorrow bows the spirit downF
Or virtue lies distressedG
Beneath some proud oppressor's frownF
Thou giv'st the mourners restG
-
The Lord supports our tott'ring daysH
And guides our giddy youthI
Holy and just are all his waysH
And all his words are truthI
-
He knows the pains his servants feelJ
He hears his children cryK
And their best wishes to fulfilJ
His grace is ever nighK
-
His mercy never shall removeA
From men of heart sincereL
He saves the souls whose humble loveA
Is joined with holy fearL
-
His stubborn foes his sword shall slayJ
And pierce their hearts with painM
But none that serve the Lord shall sayJ
They sought his aid in vainM
-
My lips shall dwell upon his praiseH
And spread his fame abroadN
Let all the sons of Adam raiseH
The honors of their GodO
