Psalm 13 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCC DDEF GGHH IIJJ KLMM GGNN

Pleading with God under desertionA
-
How long O Lord shall I complainB
Like one that seeks his God in vainB
Canst thou thy face for ever hideC
And I still pray and be deniedC
-
Shall I for ever be forgotD
As one whom thou regardest notD
Still shall my soul thine absence mournE
And still despair of thy returnF
-
How long shall my poor troubled breastG
Be with these anxious thoughts oppressedG
And Satan my malicious foeH
Rejoice to see me sunk so lowH
-
Hear Lord and grant me quick reliefI
Before my death conclude my griefI
If thou withhold thy heav'nly lightJ
I sleep in everlasting nightJ
-
How will the powers of darkness boastK
If but one praying soul be lostL
But I have trusted in thy graceM
And shall again behold thy faceM
-
Whate'er my fears or foes suggestG
Thou art my hope my joy my restG
My heart shall feel thy love and raiseN
My cheerful voice to songs of praiseN
