Psalm 124 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGFG HIHI JKJK

A song for the fifth of NovemberA
-
Had not the Lord may Isr'el sayB
Had not the Lord maintained our sideC
When men to make our lives a preyB
Rose like the swelling of the tideC
-
The swelling tide had stopped our breathD
So fiercely did the waters rollE
We had been swallowed deep in deathD
Proud waters had o'erwhelmed our soulE
-
We leap for joy we shout and singF
Who just escaped the fatal strokeG
So flies the bird with cheerful wingF
When once the fowler's snare is brokeG
-
For ever blessed be the LordH
Who broke the fowler's cursed snareI
Who saved us from the murd'ring swordH
And made our lives and souls his careI
-
Our help is in Jehovah's nameJ
Who formed the earth and built the skiesK
He that upholds that wondrous frameJ
Guards his own church with watchful eyesK
