Psalm 122 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDC EFGF HIHI JKJK FLFL MNON

Going to churchA
-
How did my heart rejoice to hearB
My friends devoutly sayC
In Zion let us all appearD
And keep the solemn dayC
-
I love her gates I love the roadE
The church adorned with graceF
Stands like a palace built for GodG
To show his milder faceF
-
Up to her courts with joys unknownH
The holy tribes repairI
The Son of David holds his throneH
And sits in judgment thereI
-
He hears our praises and complaintsJ
And while his awful voiceK
Divides the sinners from the saintsJ
We tremble and rejoiceK
-
Peace be within this sacred placeF
And joy a constant guestL
With holy gifts and heav'nly graceF
Be her attendants blestL
-
My Soul shall pray for Zion stillM
While life or breath remainsN
There my best friends my kindred dwellO
There God my Savior reignsN
