Psalm 120 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBD EFGF HIJI KLKL MNMO PQRS

Complaint of quarrelsome neighbors or A devout wish for peaceA
-
Thou God of love thou ever blestB
Pity my suff'ring stateC
When wilt thou set my soul at restB
From lips that love deceitD
-
Hard lot of mine my days are castE
Among the sons of strifeF
Whose never ceasing brawling wasteG
My golden hours of lifeF
-
O might I fly to change my placeH
How would I choose to dwellI
In some wide lonesome wildernessJ
And leave these gates of hellI
-
Peace is the blessing that I seekK
How lovely are its charmsL
I am for peace but when I speakK
They all declare for armsL
-
New passions still their souls engageM
And keep their malice strongN
What shall be done to curb thy rageM
O thou devouring tongueO
-
Should burning arrows smite thee throughP
Strict justice would approveQ
But I had rather spare my foeR
And melt his heart with loveS
