Psalm 115 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A AAAA BCBD EFGF HAHA AAAA IJKJ LAMA NOPO

The true God our refuge or Idolatry reprovedA
-
Not to ourselves who are but dustA
Not to ourselves is glory dueA
Eternal God thou only justA
Thou only gracious wise and trueA
-
Shine forth in all thy dreadful nameB
Why should a heathen's haughty tongueC
Insult us and to raise our shameB
Say Where's the God you've served so longD
-
The God we serve maintains his throneE
Above the clouds beyond the skiesF
Through all the earth his will is doneG
He knows our groans he hears our criesF
-
But the vain idols they adoreH
Are senseless shapes of stone and woodA
At best a mass of glitt'ring oreH
A silver saint or golden godA
-
With eyes and ears they carve their headA
Deaf are their ears their eyes are blindA
In vain are costly off'rings madeA
And vows are scattered in the windA
-
Their feet were never made to moveI
Nor hands to save when mortals prayJ
Mortals that pay them fear or loveK
Seem to be blind and deaf as theyJ
-
O Isr'el make the Lord thy hopeL
Thy help thy refuge and thy restA
The Lord shall build thy ruins upM
And bless the people and the priestA
-
The dead no more can speak thy praiseN
They dwell in silence and the graveO
But we shall live to sing thy graceP
And tell the world thy power to saveO
