Psalm 112 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEED FFGHHG IJKHHK DDLMMN O PPDQQD EERMMR

The blessings of the liberal manA
-
That man is blest who stands in aweB
Of God and loves his sacred lawC
His seed on earth shall be renownedD
His house the seat of wealth shall beE
An inexhausted treasuryE
And with successive honors crownedD
-
His lib'ral favors he extendsF
To some he gives to others lendsF
A gen'rous pity fills his mindG
Yet what his charity impairsH
He saves by prudence in affairsH
And thus he's just to all mankindG
-
His hands while they his alms bestowedI
His glory's future harvest sowedJ
The sweet remembrance of the justK
Like a green root revives and bearsH
A train of blessings for his heirsH
When dying nature sleeps in dustK
-
Beset with threat'ning dangers roundD
Unmoved shall he maintain his groundD
His conscience holds his courage upL
The soul that's filled with virtue's lightM
Shines brightest in affliction's nightM
And sees in darkness beams of hopeN
-
PAUSEO
-
Ill tidings never can surpriseP
His heart that fixed on God reliesP
Though waves and tempests roar aroundD
Safe on the rock he sits and seesQ
The shipwreck of his enemiesQ
And all their hope and glory drownedD
-
The wicked shall his triumph seeE
And gnash their teeth in agonyE
To find their expectations crossedR
They and their envy pride and spiteM
Sink down to everlasting nightM
And all their names in darkness lostR
