Psalm 107 Part 3 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDE FFGH IIJK LLMM NNOO PPQR

Intemperance punished and pardonedA
-
Vain man on foolish pleasures bentB
Prepares for his own punishmentC
What pains what loathsome maladiesD
From luxury and lust ariseE
-
The drunkard feels his vitals wasteF
Yet drowns his health to please his tasteF
Till all his active powers are lostG
And fainting life draws near the dustH
-
The glutton groans and loathes to eatI
His soul abhors delicious meatI
Nature with heavy loads oppressedJ
Would yield to death to be releasedK
-
Then how the frighted sinners flyL
To God for help with earnest cryL
He hears their groans prolongs their breathM
And saves them from approaching deathM
-
No med'cines could effect the cureN
So quick so easy or so sureN
The deadly sentence God repealsO
He sends his sovereign word and healsO
-
O may the sons of men recordP
The wondrous goodness of the LordP
And let their thankful off'rings proveQ
How they adore their Maker's loveR
