Israel punished and pardoned or God's unchangeable loveA
-
God of eternal loveA
How fickle are our waysC
And yet how oft did Isr'el proveA
Thy constancy of graceD
-
They saw thy wonders wroughtE
And then thy praise they sungF
But soon thy works of power forgotG
And murmured with their tongueF
-
Now they believe his wordH
While rocks with rivers flowI
Now with their lusts provoke the LordJ
And he reduced them lowI
-
Yet when they mourned their faultsK
He hearkened to their groansL
Brought his own cov'nant to his thoughtsM
And called them still his sonsN
-
Their names were in his bookO
He saved them from their foesP
Oft he chastised but ne'er forsookO
The people that he choseP
-
Let Isr'el bless the LordJ
Who loved their ancient raceD
And Christians join the solemn wordH
Amen to all the praiseC
