The promises of the covenant of graceA
-
Isa Zech Mic Ezek etcB
-
In vain we lavish out our livesC
To gather empty windD
The choicest blessings earth can yieldE
Will starve a hungry mindD
-
Come and the Lord shall feed our soulsF
With more substantial meatG
With such as saints in glory loveH
With such as angels eatG
-
Our God will every want supplyI
And fill our hearts with peaceJ
He gives by cov'nant and by oathK
The riches of his graceA
-
Come and he'll cleanse our spotted soulsF
And wash away our stainsL
In the dear fountain that his SonM
Poured from his dying veinsL
-
Our guilt shall vanish all awayN
Though black as hell beforeO
Our sins shall sink beneath the seaP
And shall be found no moreO
-
And lest pollution should o'erspreadG
Our inward powers againQ
His Spirit shall bedew our soulsF
Like purifying rainR
-
Our heart that flinty stubborn thingS
That terrors cannot moveT
That fears no threat'nings of his wrathU
Shall be dissolved by loveH
-
Or he can take the flint awayN
That would not be refinedG
And from the treasures of his graceA
Bestow a softer mindG
-
There shall his sacred Spirit dwellV
And deep engrave his lawW
And every motion of our soulsF
To swift obedience drawW
-
Thus will he pour salvation downX
And we shall render praiseY
We the dear people of his loveH
And he our God of graceA
