-
Ye sons of Adam vain and youngD
Indulge your eyes indulge your tongueD
Taste the delights your souls desireE
And give a loose to all your fireE
-
Pursue the pleasures you designF
And cheer your hearts with songs and wineF
Enjoy the day of mirth but knowG
There is a day of judgment tooH
-
God from on high beholds your thoughtsI
His book records your secret faultsJ
The works of darkness you have doneK
Must all appear before the sunK
-
The vengeance to your follies dueH
Should strike your hearts with terror throughH
How will you stand before his faceL
Or answer for his injured graceL
-
Almighty God turn off their eyesM
From these alluring vanitiesN
And let the thunder of thy wordO
Awake their souls to fear the LordP
