Hymn 87 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDEF GHII JJKK LLMM EENO

God dwells with the humble and penitentA
-
IsaB
-
Thus saith the high and lofty OneC
I sit upon my holy throneD
My name is God I dwell on highE
Dwell in my own eternityF
-
But I descend to worlds belowG
On earth I have a mansion tooH
The humble spirit and contriteI
Is an abode of my delightI
-
The humble soul my words reviveJ
I bid the mourning sinner liveJ
Heal all the broken hearts I findK
And ease the sorrows of the mindK
-
When I contend against their sinL
I make them know how vile they've beenL
But should my wrath for ever smokeM
Their souls would sink beneath my strokeM
-
O may thy pard'ning grace be nighE
Lest we should faint despair and dieE
Thus shall our better thoughts approveN
The methods of thy chast'ning loveO
