Hymn 76 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CCDE FFBB GGBB HIJJ KLMM BBIH

Christ dwells in heaven but visits on earthA
-
SSB
-
When strangers stand and hear me tellC
What beauties in my Savior dwellC
Where he is gone they fain would knowD
That they may seek and love him tooE
-
My best Beloved keeps his throneF
On hills of light in worlds unknownF
But he descends and shows his faceB
In the young gardens of his graceB
-
In vineyards planted by his handG
Where fruitful trees in order standG
He feeds among the spicy bedsB
Where lilies show their spotless headsB
-
He has engrossed my warmest loveH
No earthly charms my soul can moveI
I have a mansion in his heartJ
Nor death nor hell shall make us partJ
-
He takes my soul ere I'm awareK
And shows me where his glories areL
No chariot of AmminadibM
The heav'nly rapture can describeM
-
O may my spirit daily riseB
On wings of faith above the skiesB
Till death shall make my last removeI
To dwell for ever with my LoveH
