Hymn 71 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CCDE FFCC GGBB HIJJ KKJJ BBKK

Christ found in the street and brought to the churchA
-
SSB
-
Often I seek my Lord by nightC
Jesus my Love my soul's delightC
With warm desire and restless thoughtD
I seek him oft but find him notE
-
Then I arise and search the streetF
Till I my Lord my Savior meetF
I ask the watchmen of the nightC
Where did you see my soul's delightC
-
Sometimes I find him in my wayG
Directed by a heav'nly rayG
I leap for joy to see his faceB
And hold him fast in mine embraceB
-
I bring him to my mother's homeH
Nor does my Lord refuse to comeI
To Zion's sacred chambers whereJ
My soul first drew the vital airJ
-
He gives me there his bleeding heartK
Pierced for my sake with deadly smartK
I give my soul to him and thereJ
Our loves their mutual tokens shareJ
-
I charge you all ye earthly toysB
Approach not to disturb my joysB
Nor sin nor hell come near my heartK
Nor cause my Savior to departK
