Rhyme Scheme: A B BBCC BBBB DEFF GHIJ K LL F MM

Christ appearing to his church and seeking her companyA
-
SSB
-
The voice of my Beloved soundsB
Over the rocks and rising groundsB
O'er hills of guilt and seas of griefC
He leaps he flies to my reliefC
-
Now through the veil of flesh I seeB
With eyes of love he looks at meB
Now in the gospel's clearest glassB
He shows the beauties of his faceB
-
Gently he draws my heart alongD
Both with his beauties and his tongueE
'Rise ' saith my Lord 'make haste awayF
No mortal joys are worth thy stayF
-
'The Jewish wintry state is goneG
The mists are fled the spring comes onH
The sacred turtle dove we hearI
Proclaim the new the joyful yearJ
-
'Th' immortal vine of heav'nly rootK
Blossoms and buds and gives her fruit '-
Lo we are come to taste the wineL
Our souls rejoice and bless the vineL
-
And when we hear our Jesus sayF
'Rise up my love make haste away '-
Our hearts would fain outfly the windM
And leave all earthly loves behindM
