Christ the King at his tableA
-
SSB
-
Let him embrace my soul and proveC
Mine interest in his heav'nly loveD
The voice that tells me Thou art mineE
Exceeds the blessings of the vineE
-
On thee th' anointing Spirit cameF
And spreads the savor of thy nameF
That oil of gladness and of graceB
Draws virgin souls to meet thy faceB
-
Jesus allure me by thy charmsB
My soul shall fly into thine armsB
Our wand'ring feet thy favors bringG
To the fair chambers of the KingG
-
Wonder and pleasure tune our voiceB
To speak thy praises and our joysB
Our memory keeps this love of thineE
Beyond the taste of richest wineE
-
Though in ourselves deformed we areH
And black as Kedar's tents appearI
Yet when we put thy beauties onJ
Fair as the courts of SolomonK
-
While at his table sits the KingG
He loves to see us smile and singG
Our graces are our best perfumeL
And breathe like spikenard round the roomL
-
As myrrh new bleeding from the treeM
Such is a dying Christ to ineK
And while he makes my soul his guestN
My bosom Lord shall be thy restN
-
No beams of cedar or of firO
Can with thy courts on earth compareP
And here we wait until thy loveD
Raise us to nobler seats aboveD
