Hymn 63 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDCE AFAF GHGI JKJK LAMA DAEA

Christ's humiliation and exaltationA
-
RevB
-
What equal honors shall we bringC
To thee O Lord our God the LambD
When all the notes that angels singC
Are far inferior to thy nameE
-
Worthy is he that once was slainA
The Prince of Peace that groaned and diedF
Worthy to rise and live and reignA
At his Almighty Father's sideF
-
Power and dominion are his dueG
Who stood condemned at Pilate's barH
Wisdom belongs to Jesus tooG
Though he was charged with madness hereI
-
All riches are his native rightJ
Yet he sustained amazing lossK
To him ascribe eternal mightJ
Who left his weakness on the crossK
-
Honor immortal must be paidL
Instead of scandal and of scornA
While glory shines around his headM
And a bright crown without a thornA
-
Blessings for ever on the LambD
Who bore the curse for wretched menA
Let angels sound his sacred nameE
And every creature say AmenA
