Rhyme Scheme: A B CDED FGHG IJIK LMNO ICIC

BaptismA
-
Matt ActsB
-
'Twas the commission of our LordC
Go teach the nations and baptizeD
The nations have received the wordE
Since he ascended to the skiesD
-
He sits upon th' eternal hillsF
With grace and pardon in his handsG
And sends his cov'nant with the sealsH
To bless the distant British landsG
-
Repent and be baptized he saithI
For the remission of your sinsJ
And thus our sense assists our faithI
And shows us what his gospel meansK
-
Our souls he washes in his bloodL
As water makes the body cleanM
And the good Spirit from our GodN
Descends like purifying rainO
-
Thus we engage ourselves to theeI
And seal our cov'nant with the LordC
O may the great eternal ThreeI
In heav'n our solemn vows recordC
