Rhyme Scheme: A B CDCE FGFH IEIE JKJH LMNM

The privileges of the living above the deadA
-
IsaB
-
Awake my zeal awake my loveC
To serve my Savior here belowD
In works which perfect saints aboveC
And holy angels cannot doE
-
Awake my charity to feedF
The hungry soul and clothe the poorG
In heav'n are found no sons of needF
There all these duties are no moreH
-
Subdue thy passions O my soulI
Maintain the fight thy work pursueE
Daily thy rising sins controlI
And be thy vict'ries ever newE
-
The land of triumph lies on highJ
There are no foes t' encounter thereK
Lord I would conquer till I dieJ
And finish all the glorious warH
-
Let every flying hour confessL
I gain thy gospel fresh renownM
And when my life and labors ceaseN
May I possess the promised crownM
