Hymn 40 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDBD EFGH IJKL MKNK KOBO KPQR

The business and blessedness of glorified saintsA
-
Rev ffB
-
What happy men or angels theseC
That all their robes are spotless whiteD
Whence did this glorious troop arriveB
At the pure realms of heav'nly lightD
-
From torturing racks and burning firesE
And seas of their own blood they cameF
But nobler blood has washed their robesG
Flowing from Christ the dying LambH
-
Now they approach th' Almighty throneI
With loud hosannahs night and dayJ
Sweet anthems to the great Three OneK
Measure their blest eternityL
-
No more shall hunger pain their soulsM
He bids their parching thirst begoneK
And spreads the shadow of his wingsN
To screen them from the scorching sunK
-
The Lamb that fills the middle throneK
Shall shed around his milder beamsO
There shall they feast on his rich loveB
And drink full joys from living streamsO
-
Thus shall their mighty bliss renewK
Through the vast round of endless yearsP
And the soft hand of sovereign graceQ
Heals all their wounds and wipes their tearsR
