Rhyme Scheme: A B CDEF BGBG HBHB IJKL MBMB

The inward witness to ChristianityA
-
JnB
-
Questions and doubts be heard no moreC
Let Christ and joy be all our themeD
His Spirit seals his gospel sureE
To every soul that trusts in himF
-
Jesus thy witness speaks withinB
The mercy which thy words revealG
Refines the heart from sense and sinB
And stamps its own celestial sealG
-
'Tis God's inimitable handH
That molds and forms the heart anewB
Blasphemers can no more withstandH
But bow and own thy doctrine trueB
-
The guilty wretch that trusts thy bloodI
Finds peace and pardon at the crossJ
The sinful soul averse to GodK
Believes and loves his Maker's lawsL
-
Learning and wit may cease their strifeM
When miracles with glory shineB
The voice that calls the dead to lifeM
Must be almighty and divineB
