Hymn 39 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDEF GHBI JKLK MNON PBEB QRSR

God's tender care of his churchA
-
Isa ffB
-
Now shall my inward joys ariseC
And burst into a songD
Almighty love inspires my heartE
And pleasure tunes my tongueF
-
God on his thirsty Zion hillG
Some mercy drops has thrownH
And solemn oaths have bound his loveB
To shower salvation downI
-
Why do we then indulge our fearsJ
Suspicions and complaintsK
Is he a God and shall his graceL
Grow weary of his saintsK
-
Can a kind woman e'er forgetM
The infant of her wombN
And 'mongst a thousand tender thoughtsO
Her suckling have no roomN
-
Yet saith the Lord should nature changeP
And mothers monsters proveB
Zion still dwells upon the heartE
Of everlasting loveB
-
Deep on the palms of both my handsQ
I have engraved her nameR
My hands shall raise her ruined wallsS
And build her broken frameR
