Hymn 35 Part 1 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CACA ADAD EFGF HAHA

Faith the way to salvationA
-
Rom EphB
-
Not by the laws of innocenceC
Can Adam's sons arrive at heav'nA
New works can give us no pretenceC
To have our ancient sins forgiv'nA
-
Not the best deeds that we have doneA
Can make a wounded conscience wholeD
Faith is the grace and faith aloneA
That flies to Christ and saves the soulD
-
Lord I believe thy heav'nly wordE
Fain would I have my soul renewedF
I mourn for sin and trust the LordG
To have it pardoned and subduedF
-
O may thy grace its power displayH
Let guilt and death no longer reignA
Save me in thine appointed wayH
Nor let my humble faith be vainA
