Rhyme Scheme: A B CDCE FGFG HIJK LMNM ODOE BPBP

The Christian's hidden lifeA
-
ColB
-
O happy soul that lives on highC
While men lie grov'lling hereD
His hopes are fixed above the skyC
And faith forbids his fearE
-
His conscience knows no secret stingsF
While peace and joy combineG
To form a life whose holy springsF
Are hidden and divineG
-
He waits in secret on his GodH
His God in secret seesI
Let earth be all in arms abroadJ
He dwells in heav'nly peaceK
-
His pleasures rise from things unseenL
Beyond this world and timeM
Where neither eyes nor ears have beenN
Nor thoughts of sinners climbM
-
He wants no pomp nor royal throneO
To raise his figure hereD
Content and pleased to live unknownO
Till Christ his life appearE
-
He looks to heav'n's eternal hillB
To meet that glorious dayP
But patient waits his Savior's willB
To fetch his soul awayP
