Hymn 28 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDED FGHG IJKJ LMJN OPQP RSTS

The triumph of Christ over the enemies of his churchA
-
Isa etcB
-
What mighty man or mighty GodC
Comes travelling in stateD
Along the Idumean roadE
Away from Bozrah's gateD
-
The glory of his robes proclaimF
'Tis some victorious kingG
'Tis I the Just th' Almighty OneH
That your salvation bringG
-
Why mighty Lord thy saints inquireI
Why thine apparel's redJ
And all thy vesture stained like thoseK
Who in the wine press treadJ
-
I by myself have trod the pressL
And crushed my foes aloneM
My wrath has struck the rebels deadJ
My fury stamped them downN
-
'Tis Edom's blood that dyes my robesO
With joyful scarlet stainsP
The triumph that my raiment wearsQ
Sprung from their bleeding veinsP
-
Thus shall the nations be destroyedR
That dare insult my saintsS
I have an arm t' avenge their wrongsT
An ear for their complaintsS
