Hymn 24 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDED FGHG IJKJ LGMG

The rich sinner dyingA
-
Psa Eccl JobB
-
In vain the wealthy mortals toilC
And heap their shining dust in vainD
Look down and scorn the humble poorE
And boast their lofty hills of gainD
-
Their golden cordials cannot easeF
Their pained hearts or aching headsG
Nor fright nor bribe approaching deathH
From glitt'ring roofs and downy bedsG
-
The ling'ring the unwilling soulI
The dismal summons must obeyJ
And bid a long a sad farewellK
To the pale lump of lifeless clayJ
-
Thence they are huddled to the graveL
Where kings and slaves have equal thronesG
Their bones without distinction lieM
Amongst the heap of meaner bonesG
