Hymn 22 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEDE FGHI JKLE DMDM

With God is terrible majestyA
-
Terrible God that reign'st on highB
How awful is thy thund'ring handC
Thy fiery bolts how fierce they flyB
Nor can all earth or hell withstandC
-
This the old rebel angels knewD
And Satan fell beneath thy frownE
Thine arrows struck the traitor throughD
And weighty vengeance sunk him downE
-
This Sodom felt and feels it stillF
And roars beneath th' eternal loadG
With endless burnings who can dwellH
Or bear the fury of a GodI
-
Tremble ye sinners and submitJ
Throw down your arms before his throneK
Bend your heads low beneath his feetL
Or his strong hand shall crush you downE
-
And ye blest saints that love him tooD
With rev'rence bow before his nameM
Thus all his heav'nly servants doD
God is a bright and burning flameM
