Rhyme Scheme: A B CDEF GHIH BJBK LBMB NONP QBEB

The deity and humanity of ChristA
-
John ColB
-
Ere the blue heav'ns were stretched abroadC
From everlasting was the WordD
With God he was the Word was GodE
And must divinely be adoredF
-
By his own power were all things madeG
By him supported all things standH
He is the whole creation's headI
And angels fly at his commandH
-
Ere sin was born or Satan fellB
He led the host of morning starsJ
Thy generation who can tellB
Or count the numbers of thy yearsK
-
But lo he leaves those heav'nly formsL
The Word descends and dwells in clayB
That he may hold converse with wormsM
Dressed in such feeble flesh as theyB
-
Mortals with joy beheld his faceN
Th' eternal Father's only SonO
How full of truth how full of graceN
When through his eyes the Godhead shoneP
-
Archangels leave their high abodeQ
To learn new mysteries here and tellB
The loves of our descending GodE
The glories of ImmanuelB
