Hymn 164 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DEFE GHGH CICI

The end of the worldA
-
Why should this earth delight us soB
Why should we fix our eyesC
On these low grounds where sorrows growB
And every pleasure diesC
-
While time his sharpest teeth preparesD
Our comforts to devourE
There is a land above the starsF
And joys above his powerE
-
Nature shall be dissolved and dieG
The sun must end his raceH
The earth and sea for ever flyG
Before my Savior's faceH
-
When will that glorious morning riseC
When the last trumpet soundI
And call the nations to the skiesC
From underneath the groundI
