Hymn 16 Part 2 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCC DEDD FFGG DDHI JKDD DDLL

The enjoyment of Christ or Delight in ordinancesA
-
Lord what a heav'n of saving graceB
Shines through the beauties of thy faceB
And lights our passions to a flameC
Lord how we love thy charming nameC
-
When I can say quot My God is mine quotD
When I can feel thy glories shineE
I tread the world beneath my feetD
And all that earth calls good or greatD
-
While such a scene of sacred joysF
Our raptured eyes and souls employsF
Here we could sit and gaze awayG
A long an everlasting dayG
-
Well we shall quickly pass the nightD
To the fair coasts of perfect lightD
Then shall our joyful senses roveH
O'er the dear object of our loveI
-
There shall we drink full draughts of blissJ
And pluck new life from heav'nly treesK
Yet now and then dear Lord bestowD
A drop of heav'n on worms belowD
-
Send comforts down from thy right handD
While we pass through this barren landD
And in thy temple let us seeL
A glimpse of love a glimpse of theeL
