The names and titles of Christ From several scripturesA
-
With cheerful voice I singB
The titles of my LordC
And borrow all the namesD
Of honor from his wordE
Nature and art can ne'er supplyF
Sufficient forms of majestyG
-
In Jesus we beholdH
His Father's glorious faceI
Shining for ever brightJ
With mild and lovely raysK
Th' eternal God's eternal SonL
Inherits and partakes the throneM
-
The sovereign King of kingsN
The Lord of lords most highF
Writes his own name uponO
His garment and his thighF
His name is called The Word of GodP
He rules the earth with iron rodP
-
Where promises and graceI
Can neither melt nor moveQ
The angry Lamb resentsR
The injuries of his loveS
Awakes his wrath without delayT
As lions roar and tear the preyT
-
But when for works of peaceU
The great Redeemer comesV
What gentle charactersA
What titles he assumesW
Light of the world and Life of menX
Nor will he bear those names in vainY
-
Immense compassion reignsZ
In our Immanuel's heartA2
When he descends to actB2
A Mediator's partA2
He is a Friend and Brother tooC2
Divinely kind divinely trueC2
-
At length the Lord the JudgeD2
His awful throne ascendsE2
And drives the rebels farF2
From favorites and friendsE2
Then shall the saints completely proveQ
The heights and depths of all his loveS
