Hymn 13 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A B CDED FGHI JKLK MELE NOPO

The Son of God incarnateA
-
IsaB
-
The lands that long in darkness layC
Now have beheld a heav'nly lightD
Nations that sat in death's cold shadeE
Are blessed with beams divinely brightD
-
The virgin's promised Son is bornF
Behold th' expected child appearG
What shall his names or titles beH
The Wonderful the CounsellorI
-
This infant is the mighty GodJ
Come to be suckled and adoredK
Th' eternal Father Prince of PeaceL
The Son of David and his LordK
-
The government of earth and seasM
Upon his shoulders shall be laidE
His wide dominions still increaseL
And honors to his name be paidE
-
Jesus the holy child shall sitN
High on his father David's throneO
Shall crush his foes beneath his feetP
And reign to ages yet unknownO
