Rhyme Scheme: A B BBCC DDEE FFAA GGBF HHII JJBB

The fall and recovery of man or Christ and Satan at enmityA
-
Gen Gal ColB
-
Deceived by subtle snares of hellB
Adam our head our father fellB
When Satan in the serpent hidC
Proposed the fruit that God forbidC
-
Death was the threat'ning death beganD
To take possession of the manD
His unborn race received the woundE
And heavy curses smote the groundE
-
But Satan found a worse rewardF
Thus saith the vengeance of the LordF
quot Let everlasting hatred beA
Betwixt the woman's seed and theeA
-
quot The woman's seed shall be my SonG
He shall destroy what thou hast doneG
Shall break thy head and only feelB
Thy malice raging at his heel quotF
-
He spake and bid four thousand yearsH
Roll on at length his Son appearsH
Angels with joy descend to earthI
And sing the young Redeemer's birthI
-
Lo by the sons of hell he diesJ
But as he hung 'twixt earth and skiesJ
He gave their prince a fatal blowB
And triumphed o'er the powers belowB
