The BeatitudesA
-
MtB
-
Blest are the humble souls that seeA
Their emptiness and povertyA
Treasures of grace to them are giv'nC
And crowns of joy laid up in heav'nC
-
Blest are the men of broken heartD
Who mourn for sin with inward smartD
The blood of Christ divinely flowsA
A healing balm for all their woesA
-
Blest are the meek who stand afarE
From rage and passion noise and warF
God will secure their happy stateG
And plead their cause against the greatG
-
Blest are the souls that thirst for graceA
Hunger and long for righteousnessA
They shall be well supplied and fedH
With living streams and living breadH
-
Blest are the men whose bowels moveI
And melt with sympathy and loveJ
From Christ the Lord shall they obtainC
Like sympathy and love againC
-
Blest are the pure whose hearts arc cleanC
From the defiling powers of sinC
With endless pleasure they shall seeA
A God of spotless purityA
-
Blest are the men of peaceful lifeK
Who quench the coals of growing strifeK
They shall be called the heirs of blissA
The sons of God the God of peaceA
-
Blest are the suff'rers who partakeL
Of pain and shame for Jesus' sakeL
Their souls shall triumph in the LordM
Glory and joy are their rewardM
