Two Sermons Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HIJI ECEC

Between the rail of woven brassA
That hides the Strangers' PewB
I hear the gray haired vicar passA
From Section One to TwoB
-
And somewhere on my left I seeC
Whene'er I chance to lookD
A soft eyed girl St CecilyE
Who notes them in a bookD
-
Ah worthy GOODMAN sound divineF
Shall I your wrath incurG
If I admit these thoughts of mineF
Will sometimes stray to herG
-
I know your theme and I revereH
I hear your precepts triedI
Must I confess I also hearJ
A sermon at my sideI
-
Or how explain this need I feelE
This impulse prompting meC
Within my secret self to kneelE
To Faith to PurityC
