Daisy's Valentines. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCCB DEDEFFFE GHGHAAAH IHIHAAAJ KEKELLLE MEMENNNE

All night through Daisy's sleep it seemsA
Have ceaseless rat tats thunderedB
All night through Daisy's rosy dreamsA
Have devious Postmen blunderedB
Delivering letters round her bedC
Mysterious missives sealed with redC
And franked of course with due Queen's headC
While Daisy lay and wonderedB
-
But now when chirping birds beginD
And Day puts off the QuakerE
When Cook renews her morning dinD
And rates the cheerful bakerE
She dreams her dream no dream at allF
For just as pigeons come at callF
Winged letters flutter down and fallF
Around her head and wake herE
-
Yes there they are With quirk and twistG
And fraudful arts directedH
Save Grandpapa's dear stiff old fistG
Through all disguise detectedH
But which is his her young Lothair'sA
Who wooed her on the school room stairsA
With three sweet cakes and two ripe pearsA
In one neat pile collectedH
-
'Tis there be sure Though truth to speakI
If truth may be permittedH
I doubt that young gift bearing GreekI
Is scarce for fealty fittedH
For has he not I grieve to sayA
To two loves more on this same dayA
In just this same emblazoned wayA
His transient vows transmittedJ
-
He may be true Yet Daisy dearK
That even youth grows colderE
You'll find is no new thing I fearK
And when you're somewhat olderE
You'll read of one Dardanian boyL
Who wooed with gifts a maiden coyL
Then took the morning train to TroyL
In spite of all he'd told herE
-
But wait Your time will come And thenM
Obliging Fates please send herE
The bravest thing you have in menM
Sound hearted strong and tenderE
The kind of man dear Fates you knowN
That feels how shyly Daisies growN
And what soft things they are and soN
Will spare to spoil or mend herE
