Teach how with judgment one may praise a Friend | F |

Your prowess from The Paradise of Birds | G |
No need to show how surely you have traced | H |
The Life in Poetry the Law in Taste | H |
Or mark with what unwearied strength you wear | D |
The weight that WARTON found too great to bear | D |
There Is no need for this or that My plan | I |
Is less to laud the Matter than the Man | I |

The mind judicial the untroubled view | J |
The critic who without pedantic pose | K |
Takes his firm foothold on the thing he knows | K |
Who free alike from passion or pretence | K |
Holds the good rule of calm and common sense | K |
And be the subject or perplexed or plain | L |
Clear or confusing is throughout urbane | L |
Patient persuasive logical precise | K |
And only hard to vanity and vice | K |
