A Song Of The Greenaway Child Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF CC GG

As I went a walking on Lavender HillA
O I met a Darling in frock and frillA
And she looked at me shyly with eyes of blueB
Are you going a walking Then take me tooB
-
So we strolled to the field where the cowslips growC
And we played and we played for an hour or soC
Then we climbed to the top of the old park wallD
And the Darling she threaded a cowslip ballD
-
Then we played again till I said My DearE
This pain in my side it has grown severeE
I ought to have mentioned I'm past three scoreF
And I fear that I scarcely can play any moreF
-
But the Darling she answered O no O noC
You must play you must play I sha'n't let you goC
-
And I woke with a start and a sigh of despairG
And I found myself safe in my Grandfather's chairG
