The Old Acacia Tree Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DCCC EEFG CBHB ECCC IC

Neither daylight nor the darknessA
See how silently I wanderB
Not on mountain nor in valleyC
Does an old acacia ponderB
-
The acacia solves all mysteriesD
Tells my fortune while I tarryC
I shall ask the tree to tell meC
Whom O whom am I to marryC
-
Where will he be from O AcaciaE
Is it Poland LithuaniaE
Will he come with a horse and a carriageF
Or with staff and sack will he appearG
-
And what presents will be bring meC
Necklace of pearls and coral flowerB
Tell me will he be fair or dark hairedH
Still unmarried or a widowerB
-
If he's old my dear AcaciaE
I won't have him please don't try meC
I'll tell my father you may slay meC
But to an old man do not tie meC
-
At his feet I'll fall and with tears I'll cryI
To an old man do not tie meC
