Table Turns Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IJKK LLMM NNOP

The pot once stirred by favored handsA
Now bubbles in the commons' landsA
The choicest meat once set apartB
Now circles back a work of artB
-
The table turns with silent graceC
No trumpet blares no hurried paceC
The lowly seat once shunned with scornD
Becomes the throne where truth is bornD
-
A voice once hushed beneath the dinE
Now speaks where silence once had beenE
And eyes that begged for second sightsF
Now read the stars on fairer nightsF
-
Where power feasted blind and boldG
It meets the warmth of bread gone coldG
For every time the dice were tossedH
The soul beneath the shadow lostH
-
Now rises ash to flame againI
Not out of pride but earned through painJ
For tables turn not by our willK
But by the hush when hearts grow stillK
-
The one who scoffed the one who servedL
Now walk the line both well deservedL
No bitter root no thirst for blameM
Just seasons calling each by nameM
-
And thus the pot shall feed us allN
Both great and small both rise and fallN
Let none forget though fortune churnsO
The soul remains when tables turnP
