Overfed Heart Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEEE FFEG HHII JJEE KKLL

Too much of power a bitter brewA
Turns kings to tyrants hearts askewA
A crown that weighs a soul that bleedsB
For power unchecked sows wicked seedsB
-
Laziness soft as a whispered songC
Lures the strong and steals them longC
Idle hands once made to striveD
Now wither hollow barely aliveD
-
Overfed hearts overfilled platesE
Too much spoils what hunger createsE
The body groans the spirit dullsE
In excess the light of life it cullsE
-
Drugs that twist the mind and soulF
Turn dreams to ashes black as coalF
What once was sweet now bitter liesE
The poison in the highs disguisedG
-
Ego rises vast and tallH
A gilded throne before the fallH
Blind ambition s iron fistI
Grips the mind twists its twistI
-
Fear and anger embers fedJ
Burn too bright leave nothing but dreadJ
What once protected now confinesE
A prison built by anxious mindsE
-
The lesson etched in nature s handK
What s more than needed scars the landK
For balance keeps the soul alignedL
While excess poisons heart and mindL
