The Steadfast Shepherd Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED AFAFGDHD AIAIJDKD

Hence away thou siren leave meA
Pish unclasp those wanton armsB
Sugared words can ne'er deceive meA
Though thou prove a thousand charmsB
Fie fie forbear no common snareC
Can ever my affection chainD
They painted baits and poor deceitsE
Are all bestowed on me in vainD
-
I'm no slave to such as you beA
Neither shall that snowy breastF
Rolling eye and lip of rubyA
Ever rob me of my restF
Go go display thy beauty's rayG
To some more soon enamoured swainD
Those common wiles of sighs and smilesH
Are all bestowed on me in vainD
-
I have elsewhere vowed a dutyA
Turn away that tempting eyeI
Show me not a painted beautyA
These impostures I defyI
My spirit loathes where gaudy clothesJ
And feigned oaths may love obtainD
I love her so whose looks swear noK
That all your labours will be vainD
