The Star Sirius Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECCE

Bright Sirius that when Orion palesA
To dotlings under moonlight still art keenB
With cheerful fervour of a warrior's mienB
Who holds in his great heart the battle scalesA
Unquenched of flame though swift the flood assailsA
Reducing many lustrous to the leanB
Be thou my star and thou in me be seenB
To show what source divine is and prevailsA
Long watches through at one with godly nightC
I mark thee planting joy in constant fireD
And thy quick beams whose jets of life inspireE
Life to the spirit passion for the lightC
Dark Earth since first she lost her lord from sightC
Has viewed and felt them sweep her as a lyreE
