IA
-
Young captain of a crazy barkB
O tameless heart in battered frameC
Thy sailing orders have a markB
And hers is not the nameC
-
IIA
-
For action all thine iron clanksD
In cravings for a splendid prizeD
Again to race or bump thy planksD
With any flag that fliesD
-
IIIA
-
Consult them they are eloquentE
For senses not inebriateF
They trust thee on the star intentG
That leads to land their freightF
-
IV-
-
And they have known thee high peruseD
The heavens and deep the earth till thouH
Didst into the flushed circle cruiseD
Where reason quits the browH
-
V-
-
Thou animatest ancient talesD
To prove our world of linear seedI
Thy very virtue now assailsD
A tempter to misleadI
-
VI-
-
But thou hast answer I am I-
My passion hallows bids commandJ
And she is gracious she is nigh-
One motion of the handJ
-
VII-
-
It will suffice a whirly tuneK
These winds will pipe and thou performL
The nodded part of pantaloonK
In thy created stormL
-
VIII-
-
Admires thee Nature with much prideM
She clasps thee for a gift of mornN
Till thou art set against the tideM
And then beware her scornN
-
IXD
-
Sad issue should that strife befallO
Between thy mortal ship and thee-
It writes the melancholy scrawlO
Of wreckage over sea-
-
XD
-
This lady of the luting tongueP
The flash in darkness billow's graceD
For thee the worship for the youngP
In muscle the embraceD
-
XI-
-
Soar on thy manhood clear from thoseD
Whose toothless Winter claws at MayQ
And take her as the vein of roseD
Athwart an evening greyQ
