The Hueless Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE GHHI JKKJ LMML NOON PQQP

Unto that love must we through fire attainA
Which those two held as breath of common airB
The hands of whom were given in bond elsewhereB
Whom Honour was untroubled to restrainA
-
Midway the road of our life's term they metC
And one another knew without surpriseD
Nor cared that beauty stood in mutual eyesD
Nor at their tardy meeting nursed regretC
-
To them it was revealed how they had foundE
The kindred nature and the needed mindF
The mate by long conspiracy designedF
The flower to plant in sanctuary groundE
-
Avowed in vigilant solicitudeG
For either what most lived within each breastH
They let be seen yet every human testH
Demanding righteousness approved them goodI
-
She leaned on a strong arm and little fearedJ
Abandonment to help if heaved or sankK
Her heart at intervals while Love looked blankK
Life rosier were she but less reveredJ
-
An arm that never shook did not obscureL
Her woman's intuition of the blissM
Their tempter's moment o'er the black abyssM
Across the narrow plank he could abjureL
-
Then came a day that clipped for him the threadN
And their first touch of lips as he lay coldO
Was all of earthly in their love untoldO
Beyond all earthly known to them who wedN
-
So has there come the gust at South west flungP
By sudden volt on eves of freezing mistQ
When sister snowflake sister snowdrop kissedQ
And one passed out and one the bell head hungP
