Modern Love Xxxiv: Madam Would Speak With Me Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCBBCDEEDFBBF

Madam would speak with me So now it comesA
The Deluge or else Fire She's well she thanksB
My husbandship Our chain on silence clanksB
Time leers between above his twiddling thumbsB
Am I quite well Most excellent in healthC
The journals too I diligently peruseB
Vesuvius is expected to give newsB
Niagara is no noisier By stealthC
Our eyes dart scrutinizing snakes She's gladD
I'm happy says her quivering under lipE
And are not you How can I be Take shipE
For happiness is somewhere to be hadD
Nowhere for me Her voice is barely heardF
I am not melted and make no pretenceB
With commonplace I freeze her tongue and senseB
Niagara or Vesuvius is deferredF
