Modern Love Xxix: Am I Failing Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEGHHG

Am I failing For no longer can I castA
A glory round about this head of goldB
Glory she wears but springing from the mouldB
Not like the consecration of the PastA
Is my soul beggared Something more than earthC
I cry for still I cannot be at peaceD
In having Love upon a' mortal leaseD
I cannot take the woman at her worthC
Where is the ancient wealth wherewith I clothedE
Our human nakedness and could endowF
With spiritual splendour a white browF
That else had grinned at me the fact I loathedE
A kiss is but a kiss now and no waveG
Of a great flood that whirls me to the seaH
But as you will we'll sit contentedlyH
And eat our pot of honey on the graveG
