Modern Love Iv: All Other Joys Of Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEGHHG

All other joys of life he strove to warmA
And magnify and catch them to his lipB
But they had suffered shipwreck with the shipB
And gazed upon him sallow from the stormA
Or if Delusion came 'twas but to showC
The coming minute mock the one that wentD
Cold as a mountain in its star pitched tentD
Stood high Philosophy less friend than foeC
Whom self caged Passion from its prison barsE
Is always watching with a wondering hateF
Not till the fire is dying in the grateF
Look we for any kinship with the starsE
Oh wisdom never comes when it is goldG
And the great price we pay for it full worthH
We have it only when we are half earthH
Little avails that coinage to the oldG
