Modern Love Ii: It Ended, And The Morrow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEGHIJ

It ended and the morrow brought the taskA
Her eyes were guilty gates that let him inB
By shutting all too zealous for their sinB
Each sucked a secret and each wore a maskA
But oh the bitter taste her beauty hadC
He sickened as at breath of poison flowersD
A languid humour stole among the hoursD
And if their smiles encountered he went madC
And raged deep inward till the light was brownE
Before his vision and the world forgotF
Looked wicked as some old dull murder spotF
A star with lurid beams she seemed to crownE
The pit of infamy and then againG
He fainted on his vengefulness and stroveH
To ape the magnanimity of loveI
And smote himself a shuddering heap of painJ
